Yaw noise is a common issue in wind farms, and wind turbine brake pads are one of the main sources of this noise. The friction between the brake pads and the disc during yaw movement can generate sque

When buying wind turbine brake pads, it’s important to consider key specifications to ensure they are compatible with your turbine and meet your operating needs. Below are the most important specifications to look for:
1. Friction Coefficient: The friction coefficient determines the braking force of the pads. It should be stable over a wide temperature range (typically 0-400°C) to ensure consistent performance. Sintered brake pads usually have a higher friction coefficient than organic pads, making them suitable for high-power turbines.
2. Temperature Resistance: Wind turbine brake pads are exposed to high temperatures during braking, so they must have strong heat resistance. The maximum operating temperature should be at least 400°C, and sintered pads can withstand temperatures up to 600°C. This prevents brake fade and ensures the pads remain effective in harsh conditions.
3. Size and Dimensions: The brake pads must match the size and dimensions of your turbine’s brake caliper and disc. This includes length, width, thickness, and mounting hole position. Common sizes include XE93 AS125-2 (145x110x35mm) and XE82 (160x110x35mm) yaw brake pads.
4. Wear Rate: The wear rate indicates how long the brake pads will last. A lower wear rate means longer service life and fewer replacements. Sintered brake pads have a lower wear rate than organic pads, making them more cost-effective in the long run.
5. OEM Compatibility: Ensure the brake pads are compatible with your turbine’s OEM specifications. OEM-certified pads or OEM-equivalent pads are designed to match the original components, ensuring perfect fit and performance.
6. Material Type: Choose between sintered and organic materials based on your operating conditions. Sintered pads are ideal for high-temperature, high-pressure environments, while organic pads are better for low-noise requirements.
By considering these key specifications, you can choose wind turbine brake pads that are reliable, durable, and compatible with your turbine, reducing maintenance costs and ensuring safe operation.
