Wind Turbine Brake Pads Maintenance Checklist (Monthly & Annual)

Monthly Maintenance Checklist
1. Inspect the surface of the brake pads for contamination (oil, dust, debris) and clean if necessary.
2. Check the thickness of the friction material. If it is less than the minimum specified thickness (usually 3-5mm), replace the pads.
3. Listen for abnormal noise during yaw or braking and troubleshoot if any.
4. Check the brake disc for scratches, cracks, or uneven wear. If damage is found, repair or replace the disc.
5. Inspect the hydraulic system for leaks and ensure the pressure is within the specified range.
Annual Maintenance Checklist
1. Remove the brake pads and inspect the caliper, guide pins, and springs for wear or damage. Replace any damaged components.
2. Clean the brake system thoroughly, including the caliper, disc, and brake pads.
3. Test the failsafe function of the brake pads to ensure they work properly in case of system failure.
4. Check the alignment of the brake caliper and adjust if necessary to prevent uneven wear.
5. Replace the brake pads if they are approaching the end of their service life, even if they have not yet reached the minimum thickness.
Following this checklist will help you keep your wind turbine brake pads in optimal condition, reduce downtime, and improve the overall reliability of your wind farm.
